Privacy Policy

This policy explains how CompareMarket NG ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and regulations issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

What we collect

• Details you give us: name, email address and phone number when you request a quote or contact us; comparison preferences you enter into our forms.
• Data collected at checkout: when you proceed to buy, our partner MyCover.ai may collect further details required by the insurer (for example date of birth, address, or identifiers such as BVN). That collection is governed by the insurer's and MyCover.ai's own privacy notices.
• Technical data: device, browser and usage information collected automatically to run and improve the service.

Why we use it (lawful basis)

• To provide the service — showing comparisons and passing your request to the provider you choose (performance of a contract / your request).
• To follow up on a quote you started, where you have consented.
• To improve and secure the platform (our legitimate interests).
• To meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Who we share it with

We share the details necessary to complete your request with the relevant insurer and with our technology partner MyCover.ai. We use service providers (for example hosting, email and analytics) who process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email privacy@comparemarket.ng. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the NDPC.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the regulator of a breach where the law requires.
